Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX is seeking a Hyperbaric Technician to operate hyperbaric chambers and deliver hyperbaric oxygen therapy as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Medicine Physician. You will maintain daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual logs, ensure safe operations, perform maintenance on chambers and related equipment, and support the department under the Medical Director.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of approved UHMS/NBDHMT/DoD introductory course pre/post hire.
• Hyperbaric Chambers Acrylics course training required.
• Existing Safe Director training or willingness to complete.
• Certification as a hyperbaric technician (CHT) is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Completes initial/annual skills check lists as required by the facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate hyperbaric chambers and ensure patient safety during treatment.
• Interpret meter readings related to chamber pressure.
• Perform line-up, shutdown and all other operational procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient records for HBOT treatments.
• Determine and maintain expendable supply requirements.
• Maintenance of hyperbaric chambers and related equipment.
• Coordinate system maintenance as required.
• Assist with patient arrival and discharge as needed.
• Document care in Epic and communicate with care team.
• Adhere to department policies and safety guidelines.
