Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities
Students will support the delivery of Hyflex courses at FairmontState; and can work 5-10 hours per week (usually daytime hours, butmay include some evenings). Students will need to be available for all of the days/times that the course(s) occurs. Studentsmay cover more than one course if their schedule allows.
Fall 2026 Courses
History of 21st Century Geography (T/Th from 11:00 - 12:15pm)
The HyFlex (Hybrid-Flexible) class delivery combines in-person andonline learning. Students can attend in-person, participate onlinevia video conferencing tools, or engage through recorded lecturesand digital materials. This approach ensures that students cantailor their learning experience to fit their personal schedulesand preferences.
Technical Support:
- Trained and proficient in using classroom technology(high-quality cameras, microphones, and projectors); including howto operate video conferencing software and troubleshoot commontechnical issues.
- Ahead of the class start time, assist with technology setup,troubleshooting as necessary, so that class can begin upon theprofessor's arrival.
- During class sessions, ensure that technical issues areaddressed quickly, minimizing disruptions to learning.
- Submit IT requests as necessary. Schedule regular technologychecks to prevent technical issues from disrupting classfacilitation.
Facilitation Support:
- During live class sessions, monitor the online chat forquestions and/or issues from students participating remotely.
- Ensure that remote students can participate in real-timediscussions and activities.
- Support faculty with facilitating discussions and groupactivities as necessary.
- Ensure that classes are recorded; confirm that a copy isuploaded to Blackboard.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment: Must be a current student at Fairmont StateUniversity.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in using classroomtechnology (high-quality cameras, microphones, and projectors);including how to operate video conferencing software and troubleshoot common technical issues. Training can beprovided.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving skills; able to think onyour feet and troubleshoot under pressure; and maintain a calmdemeanor in difficult situations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills;ability to interact professionally with faculty and students.
- Experience: Previous experience supporting and/orparticipating in remote presentations (webinars, online classes,Telehealth) is a plus but not required.
- Availability: Flexibility to work during regularbusiness hours and occasionally evenings based upon classschedule.
- Physical Requirements: Able to lift and carry materials(up to 25 lbs).
