Job summary

Clearsite Industrial Services, based in Richmond, VA, seeks a Hydrovac Operator to support excavation services with a focus on safety and efficiency. You will operate hydrovacuum systems, perform cleaning and maintenance, and liaise with on-site teams to ensure safe equipment positioning.

Required qualifications include a Class B CDL with tanker endorsement, a DOT medical certificate, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs.

Qualifications

  • CDL driving experience is required.
  • Must regularly lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather.
  • English proficiency sufficient for safety communication and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate hydrovacuum systems for non-destructive excavation near underground utilities.
  • Perform cleaning, vacuuming, equipment mobilization and routine truck maintenance.
  • Attend safety meetings and follow all safety protocols.
  • Complete company, customer and regulatory documentation accurately.
  • Communicate with on-site representatives to determine safe equipment positioning.
  • Lead and direct subordinate personnel as needed.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and perform minor repairs.
  • Perform physical work including heavy lifting, working at heights, and confined spaces.
  • Work flexible construction hours, including variable shifts and extended hours.
  • Travel out of town or out of state as required.

Our Richmond, VA team operates a modern fleet of hydrovac trucks to deliver safe dig services for sensitive underground utilities, ensuring our customers receive trusted and professional support.

As a Hydrovac Operator, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality excavation and cleaning services while maintaining our commitment to safety and operational excellence. You will work closely with customers and team members, operating advanced equipment and ensuring all regulatory and company standards are met.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Operate hydrovacuum systems to perform non-destructive excavation around underground utilities
  • Carry out cleaning and vacuuming tasks, equipment mobilization, and routine truck maintenance
  • Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols
  • Complete required company, customer, and regulatory documentation accurately
  • Communicate with on-site customer representatives to determine safe equipment positioning
  • Lead and direct subordinate personnel as needed
  • Troubleshoot equipment and perform minor repairs
  • Perform physical work including heavy lifting, working at heights, and confined space entry
  • Work flexible construction hours, including variable shifts and extended hours
  • Travel out of town or out of state as required
Required Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of CDL driving experience
  • Class B CDL with tanker endorsement
  • Current DOT medical certificate
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50+ lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms
  • Ability to wear required PPE while performing job duties
  • English proficiency sufficient for safety communication and completing required documentation
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Comfortable driving daily to local job sites in the Richmond, VA area
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience operating hydrovac or vacuum excavation equipment
  • Experience working around underground utilities
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • Competitive hourly wage: $29 - $39/ Hr (based on experience)
