Job summary

LimnoTech in the United States is seeking a Scientific Software Developer (Hydrology) to build reproducible Python workflows for water data analysis and hydrologic modeling. You will contribute to scalable data management, visualization, geoprocessing, and modeling across diverse water resources projects with teams across multiple offices, including Los Angeles.

Ideal applicants have a degree in environmental or software disciplines and experience with geopandas, xarray, rasterio, and Git.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with one year of relevant job experience OR Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar discipline from an accredited university program.
• Demonstrated capabilities using and developing tools for environmental and geospatial data management, analysis, visualization, and hydrologic modeling using Python scientific computing packages such as geopandas, xarray, rasterio, dask.
• Strong analytical and computational skills; good oral and written communication skills.
• Must be legally able to work in the U.S. for any employer (proper documentation is required).

Responsibilities

• Development of reusable and reproducible Python-orchestrated workflows and supporting software packages for scalable water data management, analysis, visualization, geoprocessing, and hydrologic modeling using modern geospatial Python libraries.
• Creation and refinement of Analysis-Ready, Cloud-Optimized (ARCO) geospatial data products and data sharing systems that support watershed-scale hydrologic, hydraulic, inundation, and water quality modeling.
• Contribution to open-source software repositories that support the USGS National Hydrologic Modeling Infrastructure and follow the vision of the multi-agency Integrated Hydro-Terrestrial Modeling 2.0 (IHTM) roadmap
• Managing software and dataset development activities within collaborative, multidisciplinary teams using Git-based workflows in open-source repositories.
