Job summary

Lamb-Star Engineering in Frisco, TX seeks a Civil Engineer with 4–10 years of H&H design experience to help design transportation projects from preliminary to final design. You will collaborate with roadway, drainage, structural, traffic, and environmental teams, ensuring data accuracy and adherence to design criteria.

The role involves mentoring junior engineers and EITs, plus strong communication with engineers, designers, and clients to advance projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
  • 4–10 years of civil/H&H design experience.
  • Texas PE or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Proficient in MicroStation, ProjectWise, OpenRoads, InRoads/Geopak.
  • Experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, Hydraulic Toolbox.
  • 3D modeling knowledge (basic to advanced).
  • MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to mentor younger engineers or EITs.
  • TxDOT project experience preferred.

Job Overview
  • Assist in designing H&H projects from preliminary to final design.
  • Collaborate with the complimentary disciplines (roadway, drainage, structural, traffic, public involvement and environmental) to develop transportation projects such as roadway, bridge, rail, transportation planning, and preliminary design for environmental documents.
  • Compile data, perform and check dimensional and routine calculations, and ensure compliance with required design criteria.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers or EITs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • 4-10 years of civil / H&H design experience
  • Texas PE or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Proficient in MicroStation, ProjectWise, OpenRoads and InRoads/Geopak
  • Experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, and Hydraulic Toolbox
  • Basic to advanced knowledge of 3D modeling
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
  • The ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with Engineers, Designers, and Clients
  • Willing to mentor younger engineers or EITs
  • Possess critical thinking skills necessary to plan, conceptualize and anticipate next steps
  • Capable of recognizing conflicts and discrepancies with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively on a team of engineers, technical experts and designers, as well as working independently with little supervision
  • TxDOT project experience (other DOT is acceptable), and TxDOT pre-certification is preferred.
