The State of North Carolina's Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking a Geologist/Hydrogeologist (NS) to manage the stewardship of closed sites across programs under the Superfund and Brownfields Redevelopment sections. This position requires reviewing complex geological reports, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring protection of public health during redevelopment.

Occasional travel within North Carolina is required.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, geosciences, physical science or related field; or engineering with 30 credit hours of geological science coursework.
• Licensure as Professional Geologist by NC Board (if required) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsabilidades

• Provide technical oversight and evaluate land use to protect public health and environment during property redevelopment.
• Conduct risk evaluations using DEQ protocols and tools across site media.
• Assess vapor intrusion risk and review vapor mitigation designs for DEQ compliance.
• Present and communicate technical information to stakeholders.
