Job summary

FirstLight is seeking an experienced Station Control Room Operator Helper for the New Milford, CT site. The role is unionized with IBEW and focuses on safe, economic operation of the Rocky River Station. Compensation ranges hourly with strong benefits and bonus eligibility.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in operations, a strong mechanical/electrical aptitude, and a valid driver’s license. Training progression to Station Operator is provided, with opportunities across hydro assets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years in plant operations or related industry.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have a valid, clean driver's license.
• Available for 12-hour shifts, including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Station Operator in operating plant equipment such as pumps, valves, hydroelectric turbines, and related systems.
• Perform inspection rounds and report issues to ensure safe plant operations.
• Operate pumps, turbines, valves, and related systems; maintain logs.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine housekeeping around the plant.
• Support overtime, outages, and field activities as needed.
