Job summary

Sterling Industrial LLC in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years to lead the mechanical scope on a major EPC hydro project, including underground powerhouse and surface facilities.

You will coordinate with civil, architectural, and construction teams, interface with OEMs, and support design reviews, testing, commissioning, and handover to operations. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
• At least 10 years in engineering, with 6+ years in MEP design for large power/industrial projects.
• Experience supporting powerhouse or BOP systems on hydropower projects.
• Willingness to travel for site work and client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review mechanical design for systems including HVAC, water, fire protection, and BOP components.
• Coordinate with civil/geotechnical, architectural, and construction teams.
• Interface with OEMs for integration and ensure design compliance with codes.
• Provide construction and commissioning support, RFIs, and field change evaluations.
• Review deliverables for safety, reliability, and operability; participate in design reviews.
