Job summary

Seattle City Light, a major municipally owned utility, seeks an Associate Mechanical Engineer in Seattle to ensure reliable operation of hydro turbine generating units and related systems. You will handle design changes, maintenance and construction of powerhouse and dam support equipment, gates, hoists, piping and ventilation under the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor.

Required: a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and at least three years of professional experience.

Qualifications

• Requires three years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience at hydroelectric generating facilities and with safety/code compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support with operations and maintenance.
• Develop disassembly and assembly procedures for rotating machinery.
• Review planned work with mechanical maintenance crew and ensure documentation.
• Procure and source materials when needed.
• Recommend projects to improve safety, reliability and efficiency.
