Job summary

Idaho Power is looking for two Generation Specialist Apprentices to join CJ Strike and Shoshone Falls plant crews, gaining hands-on maintenance experience to ensure safe and reliable hydro power generation.

Apprentice I or II roles involve on-call duties, emergency response, and skill development in electrical theory, test equipment, and plant operations, with competitive pay and benefits including 401(k) and a pension plan.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic electrical theory and how to troubleshoot complex equipment.
• Ability to read prints, drawings and manuals for maintenance tasks.
• Proficiency in basic mathematics including geometry and algebra.
• Experience or training related to operation and maintenance of power plants.
• Ability to operate test equipment and monitor plant performance.
• Strong interpersonal communication and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on hydro-power facilities and associated equipment.
• Respond to emergencies during and outside regular hours and take immediate corrective actions.
• Work on rotating on-call schedule and assist other operators when needed.
• Support safety, compliance and efficiency in plant operations.
