Job summary

Grant PUD’s Priest Rapids and Wanapum hydro facilities require a Maintenance Engineer to provide electrical engineering support and ensure safe, reliable operations. The role focuses on applying best practices for generators, switchyards, control systems, and related equipment within a dynamic utility setting.

You will assist with asset management, PM standards, troubleshooting during outages, and the preparation of maintenance manuals and SOPs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Valid State driver's license with no restrictions.
• Engineer II: 1 year in the discipline of Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Engineer III: 3–5 years in the discipline working in a Utility or Industrial Environment.
• Engineer IV: 6 years in the discipline working in a Utility or Industrial Environment.
• Engineer V: 10 years in the discipline working in a Utility or Industrial Environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily engineering support for Operations and Maintenance within the designated area.
• Support troubleshooting during equipment outages or routine maintenance.
• Work with equipment including High/Medium/Low Voltage Distribution systems, PLC/VFD and Control Systems, Exciters, Governors, Generator Systems, Transformers (Distribution and GSU), Ovation SCADA Systems, Protective Relay Equipment, High/Medium/Low Voltage Circuit Breakers, Battery Systems, Bridge Cranes, MCCs, and supporting equipment required for safe and reliable operation of generators and ancillary equipment.
• Support the Asset Management process for new and modified equipment, including entry/removal of assets, Critical Spare Process, BOMs, Test Reports, and related documentation.
• Support high-level standards associated with Preventative Maintenance (PM)/Job Plans and Maintenance Adherence. Physical updates to PMs/Job Plans are completed by the Planning Department.
• Assist Engineering in providing turnover materials for Maintenance Manuals, Troubleshooting Guides, and SOPs for newly installed, modified, and existing equipment. Physical updates to Manuals, Guides, and SOPs are completed by the Planning Department.
• Support the Planning Department with obsolete-part replacement and research. Like-for-like replacement purchases should be handled by the Planning Department.
• Identify required maintenance related to NFPA 70B, NEC, PRC-005, and other regulatory compliance requirements.
• Review outage work and appropriate schedules against required PMs.
• Analyze test reports for electrical equipment throughout the designated area, consistent with assigned level of responsibility.

• Actively participate in all aspects of the safety program, including: Following all safety policies and procedures.; Alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working conditions.; Reporting safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to a supervisor.; Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding personal safety performance.
