Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Engineer I or II (Hydraulics) in Houston to contribute to safe, resilient transportation drainage projects. You will review schematic design, PS&E, and drainage reports, and work with local governments on complex drainage issues to support TxDOT’s mission.

The role involves coordination with agencies, on-site reviews, and potential permits review for private development adjacent to TxDOT facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science (TX PELS accepted).
• 4 years engineering/transportation engineering experience (experience can be prorated).
• Alternative graduate education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Drives/travels to project sites for on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and technical support.
• Reviews Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) submission and related documents; coordinates with consultants.
• Provides drainage design and hydraulics evaluations and other hydrology matters.
• Represents the district at meetings and coordinates with governmental officials and private entities.
• Monitors progress and quality of consultant work; may prepare supplemental agreements.
