Job summary

STV is seeking a Hydraulics Engineering Intern in Charlotte, NC, to work with water resources and transportation professionals on meaningful infrastructure projects. This hybrid internship requires three days per week in the office and offers hands-on experience across analyses, reporting, and design tasks.

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, you will gain exposure to HEC-RAS, StormCAD, MicroStation, and AutoCAD while supporting senior staff

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil/Environmental/related engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
• Coursework or interest in hydraulics, hydrology, stormwater management, or water resources engineering.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Support stormwater management reports, drainage studies, and memos.
• Assist with storm drain, culvert, and erosion control design tasks.
• Use HEC-RAS, StormCAD, or similar software for tasks.
• Prepare drawings with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD.
• Format reports and calculations for project documentation.
• Help with project file management and document organization.
• Exposure to permitting processes, including NPDES and stormwater requirements.
• Utilize department software to complete tasks.
• Gain exposure to STV's structure through diverse assignments.
