Job summary

MnDOT is seeking a Hydraulics Design Engineer to design bridge waterways, culverts, deck drains and detention basins for trunk highways. You will provide technical guidance to MnDOT districts and partner agencies, and perform bridge scour evaluations with countermeasure design.

The role also supports updating drainage standards, hydraulic automation, asset management, and climate resilience initiatives in Minnesota.

Qualifications

• Licensure as a professional engineer with AELSLAGID or ability to obtain via reciprocity.
• 2D modeling of streams and rivers experience.
• Experience analyzing engineering data.
• Experience providing technical guidance to others.

Responsibilities

• Design bridge waterways, culverts, deck drain systems, basins and channels for trunk highways.
• Provide technical expertise to MnDOT District Offices and other agencies.
• Conduct bridge scour evaluation on new and existing structures and design countermeasures.
• Update drainage standards and support hydraulic automation and asset management; contribute to climate resiliency efforts.
