MnDOT is seeking a Hydraulics Design Engineer to design bridge waterways, culverts, deck drains, basins and channels for trunk highways. The role provides technical guidance to district offices and may involve 2D modeling and climate resiliency efforts.
Minimum qualifications include professional engineering licensure or reciprocity, plus hands-on hydraulics, hydrology and data analysis experience. Some telework is available as part of the position.
As a Hydraulics Design Engineer, you will design bridge waterways, culverts, deck drain systems, retention/detention basins and channels for trunk highways. This position provides technical expertise and assistance to MnDOT District Offices, municipalities and county engineers as requested; conducts bridge scour evaluation on new and existing bridges and design countermeasures. In addition, the position updates drainage standards and supports hydraulic automation and asset management and will be involved in hydraulic climate resiliency efforts at MnDOT.

Minimum Qualifications:
Licensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR before starting employment.) AND
