Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Hydraulic Structures Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team working on flood protection, water supply, and wastewater projects in the United States and beyond. The role offers partial remote schedules and opportunities to lead design efforts for dams, spillways, gates, and related structures.

You will collaborate with engineers across disciplines, prepare proposals, manage schedules, and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with USACE, USBR, FERC, and FEMA

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Architectural/Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineer (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design hydraulic structures for flood control, hydroelectric, and water projects.
• Lead project teams of structural engineers and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Prepare proposals with scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Forecast workload and schedules.
• Prepare contract documents and design criteria.
• Perform engineering services during construction and review submittals.
• Conduct inspections and prepare reports.
• Present technical presentations to project teams and clients.
• Conduct risk analyses for hydraulic structures and document outcomes.
• Manage multiple projects and monitor budgets and schedules.
• Support business development and recruiting activities.
• Mentor junior staff.
