Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Hydraulic Structures Engineer to design and analyze hydraulic structures for flood control and water projects. You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams, prepare budgets and schedules, and coordinate contract documents across large and complex assignments.

Ideal candidates bring extensive experience with USACE/USBR/FERC/FEMA standards, strong CAD/3D design skills, and a track record of delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Architectural/Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license required or ability to obtain licensure.
• Minimum 10 years of related engineering experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design hydraulic structures for flood control and water projects.
• Lead project teams of structural engineers and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare scopes of work, budgets and schedules for projects.
• Forecast workload and schedules to keep projects on track.
• Prepare contract documents, drawings, specifications and bid packages.
• Review shop drawings and respond to contractor questions during construction.
• Conduct inspections and prepare reports on existing structures; assess conditions.
• Present technical material to project teams, clients and review boards.
• Conduct risk analyses and identify potential failure modes for hydraulic structures.
• Manage single large projects or multiple medium projects and monitor budgets.
