Job summary

Shannon & Wilson, Inc. in Seattle is seeking an Entry-Level Hydraulic Engineer to join our geotechnical team. You will perform field assessments, hydraulic analyses, and design habitat restoration and hydraulic structures, collaborating with senior staff.

Ideal candidate has a civil or hydraulic engineering degree, EIT certification, 0–6 years of experience, and skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, and ArcGIS. Travel to project sites and strong writing are valued in this role.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in civil/hydraulic engineering; MS degree preferred.
  • 0–6 years of hydraulic/civil engineering experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Course work or project experience in hydraulics, river mechanics, geomorphology, coastal hydraulics, hydrology, civil design, and management.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D / Bentley / ArcGIS and hydraulic modeling.
  • Strong writing, organization, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field assessments and hydrologic data collection.
  • Perform engineering analysis, design, and report writing.
  • Conduct hydrologic/hydraulic and sediment transport analyses.
  • Design habitat restoration and hydraulic structures.
  • Provide construction observation and client support.
  • Manage projects, scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Develop proposals and support marketing and client development.
  • Follow QA and safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
