Nippon Sanso Matheson is seeking a Hydrogen Plant Relief Operator in Anacortes, WA. This entry-level role supports day, night, and weekend shifts to cover vacations and daily tasks when coverage is low.

Expect ~40 hours per week with potential move to Operations Technician based on aptitude and safety performance. The role emphasizes learning process operation, safety compliance, and proactive problem solving while collaborating with operations and maintenance teams to ensure reliable plant

Job description

HyCO Hydrogen Plant Relief Operator - This will be anintroductory operations role that will be expected to learn the basics ofhydrogen plant operations, outside shift logs, duties and requirements tosupport operator shift vacations. Thiswill require flexibility in covering day, night and weekend shifts, generallywith at minimum two weeks' notice for when coverage is needed. This position has the potential to move into a regular Operations Technician role based on the selected candidate's aptitude,work ethic, ability to learn and contribute positively to the site's safety,performance and reliability. Duringweeks when minimum or no vacation coverage is needed this role will work withthe operations and maintenance team on daily tasks. Expectation is that this role will workapproximately 40 hours per week, this could vary depending on shift coveragerequired. Matheson is looking for acandidate looking to learn and grow as an operator that is willing to acceptresponsibility to be proactive and innovative in solutions to ensure efficient plantoperations and a safe work environment.

PositionAccountabilities

• 1. Obtain the knowledge base required to operate andmaintain the process of a steam methane reformer and related equipmentassociated with the process, understand the plant's water chemistry to assureproper operations and equipment functioning.
• 2. Monitor the process and outside related equipment. This includes making rounds, completing logssheets, water sampling, oil and chemical transfers and maintaininghousekeeping.
• 3. Be safety conscious; i.e. meetings, work areacleanliness, eliminate hazards when noted, etc.
• 4. Develop ability to interpret Piping & InstrumentDrawings to understand process operations, equipment and aid in troubleshooting system anomalies.
• 5. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, evaluate equipmentperformance and maintain appropriate records.
• 6. Follow company work policies to promote a safe workenvironment that encourages active participation and timely reporting of allincidents and unsafe conditions.
• 7. Participate in the maintenance and updating of plantequipment and work instructions.
• 8. Apply the Work Permit process, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO)and energy isolation procedures as required for company and contractorpersonnel.
• 9. Good communication skills with all team members, vendors,safety and management teams, etc.
• 10. Assist with starting / stopping the plants in a safemanner as dictated by operating conditions and business needs.

Qualifications:

• *Experience in an industrial plant in the operations ormaintenance departments not required but desired
• *Math - basic algebra, fractions/percentages, unitconversion
• *General personal computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (wordprocessing, spreadsheets, email) and other software utilized by the company
• *Strong Interpersonal abilities to support team philosophyand strategy
• *Basic understanding of electrical hazards and safety
• *Strong mechanical aptitude
• *Physically able to perform all duties required which mayinvolve among other things; bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders andlifting / carrying loads up to 50 lbs.
• *Ability to climb stairs and work effectively on platformsup to 150 feet above grade
• *Capable of operating a forklift and/or man-lift accordingto company policy

Pay Rate: $27.00-29.00 per hour DOE.
