Job summary

Nokia in Sunnyvale invites a senior researcher to define and shape a research agenda under top industry experts, develop innovations with the Wi‑Fi CoE, and draft contributions for IEEE 802.11 and the Wi‑Fi Alliance.

You will contribute to industry-leading system and link simulation platforms, and translate ideas from academia or 3GPP into 802.11/Wi‑Fi Alliance contexts. Strong background in Wi‑Fi standards and AI/ML in PHY/MAC is essential.

Qualifications

• PhD in EE/CS/Physics or MS with 5+ years in Wi‑Fi standardization.
• Strong knowledge of IEEE 802.11 and Wi‑Fi Alliance.
• Experience applying AI/ML to PHY/MAC.
• Proven track record of wireless standard contributions.

Responsibilities

• Become a key contributor to Nokia’s IEEE 802.11 and/or Wi‑Fi Alliance delegation.
• Develop novel concepts for the Wi‑Fi 9 era; evaluate and promote them.
• Collaborate with other companies in IEEE 802.11 and Wi‑Fi Alliance to advance the standard.
• Contribute to the development of industry-leading link and system simulators.
