Job summary

ATCS is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Transportation Water Resources design services group in a hybrid role, with three days on-site at our Herndon, VA office. You will perform diverse hydrology/hydraulics analyses, create 2D/3D design models, and coordinate with senior engineers to deliver stormwater and drainage solutions for MDOT, VDOT, and PennDOT projects.

The ideal candidate has a Civil/Environmental Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program, 3+ years of relevant

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • EIT certification preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in water resources design for transportation projects with H&H modeling, floodplain management, stream restoration, stormwater design, drainage, and erosion control.
  • Proficiency with hydraulic design software such as Microstation, InRoads/OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, and related tools.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical design for water resources transportation projects including stormwater, drainage, erosion and sediment control, and stream restoration.
  • Perform hydrology/hydraulics studies and modeling for culverts, drainage systems, bridges, streams, and floodplain analyses.
  • Prepare CADD plans and GIS exhibits.
  • QA/QC and review work of others; prepare reports on stormwater management and design measures.
  • Use HEC-RT or related tools to develop 1D/2D hydrologic models; apply ARC-GIS and HEC-HMS as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal/external clients; work in a multi-discipline team environment.
