Job summary

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) seeks a seasoned program manager to support the pretreatment program under VPDES. You will lead policy development, provide technical assistance, and coordinate with regulatory partners to improve water program effectiveness.

Responsibilities include developing procedures and guidance, preparing reports, and guiding staff through compliance with state and federal laws.

Qualifications

• Background in environmental science or engineering.
• Knowledge of Clean Water Act and state water laws.
• Experience with DEQ water program processes desirable.
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and partners.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistics basics.

Responsibilities

• Identify policy, guidance and procedural issues and propose implementation strategies.
• Produce quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports on water program activities.
• Coordinate staff reviews of correspondence, plans and permits for consistency.
• Provide technical and regulatory assistance to staff, partners and the public.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and conformance to laws and guidelines.
