Job summary

Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) seeks a Deputy Assistant Director for the Water Planning and Permitting Division. This leadership role oversees regulatory, permitting, and planning programs and requires collaboration with state and federal agencies, utilities, and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has extensive water resources experience, management skills, and a track record of building consensus-based solutions through boards and committees.

Qualifications

• Experience leading regulatory, permitting, and planning programs.
• Strong background in water policy, planning, and management.
• Ability to build regional partnerships and consensus-based programs and strategies.
• Experience working with boards and stakeholder groups to develop solutions.

Responsibilities

• Serve on the agency's senior leadership team and represent state interests with agencies, municipalities, and stakeholders.
• Inform executive staff of issues, opportunities, and recommended actions; guide policy and position development.
• Lead multi-disciplinary projects and supervise managers and professional staff to ensure timely outcomes.
• Review permits, certificates, and regulatory documents; monitor contracts and budgets.
