Job summary

Global Payments Inc. is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our Edge & Network Security team.

This hands-on role focuses on web application firewall, edge security, API protection, and bot mitigation across a global enterprise, with approximately 80% time on implementation and 20% on incident support. You’ll work with Akamai and Cloudflare, onboard applications, tune protections, analyze logs, and collaborate across security, network and vendor teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in network/application security or related roles.
• Hands-on with WAF or application protection technologies (Akamai/Cloudflare preferred).
• Experience onboarding applications, policy implementation, traffic analysis and tuning.

Responsibilities

• Operate, strengthen and improve web application firewall, edge security and API protection.
• Configure Akamai/Cloudflare platforms, WAF policies, rules, rate limiting and bot controls.
• Onboard internet-facing applications and implement protections and allow/block controls.
• Analyze traffic, logs and events to identify threats and policy improvements.
• Troubleshoot WAF blocks, TLS, DNS, proxies and edge security issues.
• Support incident response and participate in post-incident reviews.
