Job summary

Global Payments is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our Edge & Network Security team. This role focuses on web application firewalls, edge security, and application protection across a global enterprise, with hands‑on implementation and tuning responsibilities.

You will onboard applications, tune security controls, investigate false positives, and collaborate with security, network, and vendor teams. Hybrid work is available in Cincinnati, OH or Atlanta, GA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, IT, networking, or related field required.
• 3–5 years of experience in network security, application security, edge security or security operations.
• Hands‑on experience with WAF/app‑level protections (Akamai/Cloudflare preferred).
• Experience onboarding applications, policy implementation, and traffic analysis.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/S, TLS, DNS, proxies, load balancing, and edge security concepts.
• Ability to analyze logs and security events to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Operate and improve WAF and edge security platforms.
• Configure Akamai/Cloudflare policies, rules, rate limits and bot protections.
• Onboard internet‑facing applications and implement protections.
• Analyze traffic and security events to identify threats and policy gaps.
• Troubleshoot WAF blocks and application access issues.
• Support incident response and maintain runbooks.
