Job summary

Global Payments Inc. is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join the Edge & Network Security team. You will help operate, strengthen, and enhance our web application firewall, edge security, and application protection platforms across a global enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in cybersecurity, CS, IT, networking, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in network security, application security, edge security, or security operations.
• Hands-on experience with WAF or application protection technologies (Akamai/Cloudflare or similar).
• Experience onboarding applications, implementing policies, traffic analysis, rule tuning, and false-positive reduction.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/S, TLS, DNS, proxies, load balancing, CDN/edge security concepts.
• Ability to analyze logs, HTTP transactions, and security events to resolve issues.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-team communication; able to work on on-call schedules.

Responsibilities

• Operate and improve WAF and edge security platforms, focusing on application, API, and bot protection.
• Configure Akamai, Cloudflare, or similar platforms, including WAF policies, rules, rate limiting, and analytics.
• Onboard internet-facing applications and implement protections and allow/block controls.
• Analyze traffic and security events to identify threats, issues, and policy improvements.
• Troubleshoot WAF blocks, TLS/certificates, DNS, proxies, and edge security issues.
• Implement changes using testing, peer-review, rollback, and change-management processes.
• Support incident response and maintain runbooks; collaborate across teams.
