Job summary

Colorado PERA seeks a VMware SME to design, implement, and monitor advanced virtualization and infrastructure. You will drive IaC initiatives with deep PowerShell scripting, manage domain controllers, and lead disaster recovery testing and improvements.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, leading technical projects, and delivering scalable solutions. Strong experience with vSphere/vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and CIS hardening is required; collaboration with vendors and teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in a technical (STEM) field and about four years’ technical experience or equivalent education/experience
• Experience as an SME across multiple key technologies within the technology domain with solid understanding of system security implications
• VMware certifications are a plus (VCP-DCV, VCAP-DCV Deploy/Design, VCDX-DCV)
• Regularly attends technical training related to current and future system support duties
• Proven experience implementing VMware environments on HPE hardware (DL380, Synergy), Windows and Linux VMs, virtual networking, fibre channel storage integration, and Aria monitoring tools
• Strong PowerShell scripting to enable automation, IaC, observability, monitoring and alerting
• Demonstrated admin of Microsoft domain controllers (PDC/SDC), CIS hardening, Kerberos/KDC, and disaster recovery

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME in VMware; implement, maintain, test, and monitor system technology
• Lead Infrastructure as Code initiatives using PowerShell and IaC practices
• Manage domain controller administration, upgrades, replication, and DR planning
• Mentor admins; tackle complex technical issues with proactive strategies
• Lead technical projects and deliver short- and long-term solutions
• Provide concise, updated written communications and ITSM process improvements
• Collaborate with vendors and teammates; support vendor discussions and licensing reviews
