The State of Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services seeks a Microbiologist I in Augusta, ME, to support the Maine CDC’s HETL. The role involves processing specimens for respiratory viruses and sexually transmitted infections using PCR and serology, under CLIA guidelines.

Responsibilities include SOP adherence, QA/QC monitoring, proficiency testing, and assisting with validating new assays, with partial telework possible with management approval.

Formación

• Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology or equivalent.
• Preferred certification such as ASCP, MT, or MLT.
• Experience with real-time PCR and serology desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Perform testing on specimens for respiratory viruses and STIs using real-time PCR and serology.
• Follow SOPs and monitor QA/QC metrics in the laboratory.
• Validate new assays with supervision and maintain CLIA standards.
• Participate in biosafety and safety trainings annually.
