Job summary

The City of Minneapolis is seeking a real estate development professional to help manage mixed-use and commercial projects, from due diligence to financing and approvals.

You will coordinate with neighborhoods, developers, and city staff, evaluate proposals, and ensure alignment with city planning objectives. A bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in urban planning or development are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in urban planning, real estate development, or project management related to economic development.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate mixed-use, industrial, or commercial development or redevelopment projects of moderate complexity or moderate financial impact.
• Assist in identifying potential markets for City-designated property and seek owners/developers to invest.
• Review projects for planning objectives, fiscal feasibility, and physical feasibility.
• Prepare RFPs outlining opportunities, objectives, and criteria for selection.
• Evaluate proposals and recommend those aligning with City objectives.
• Coordinate with neighborhood groups to address concerns and document uses in development agreements.
• Assist developers with timelines involving City review/approvals and subsidized financing; keep on schedule.
• Assist with project budget development including costs and public funding sources.
• Monitor compliance with development agreements and pursue remedies for non-compliance.
