Job summary

Mountain Empire Community College seeks a TRIO Assistant Director/Advisor to design, coordinate, and evaluate Student Support Services for first‑generation, low‑income students in the Wise area. You will build ISP plans, manage finances and grant activities, and provide intrusive advising and coaching to help with transfer and degree completion.

The role may include up to one day per week telework from a preapproved location and is a restricted position funded from several sources.

Qualifications

• Experience with first‑generation, low‑income students.
• Ability to develop and monitor an Individual Service Plan (ISP).
• Knowledge of FAFSA, financial aid, and scholarships.
• Experience in intrusive advising and student success strategies.
• Experience in delivering financial literacy programs.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong technology skills and database entry experience.
• MS Office proficiency.
• Ability to manage a large caseload with multiple deadlines.
• Ability to coordinate with on‑ and off‑campus partners.
• Strong record‑keeping and documentation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize conflicting tasks.
• Experience collaborating with campus and community offices.
• Experience coordinating transfer assistance and admissions processes.

Responsibilities

• Designs, coordinates, and evaluates program services for Student Support Services.
• Develops and implements financial literacy and grant award processes.
• Provides counseling, career and academic coaching, and intrusive advising.
• Maintains a large caseload with deadlines and ongoing assessment.
• Oversees data collection, reporting, and program evaluation.
