Job summary

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting two Alternative Project Engineers based in Helena. The role focuses on project management for complex, multi-discipline transportation delivery projects across multiple firms, with responsibilities to develop, direct, and monitor statewide contracts and programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 5 years of progressively responsible experience including project planning, design or construction.
• Minimum of 1 year of supervision or team lead experience.
• A Montana Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• DBIA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct statewide, multi-disciplinary transportation projects using DB, PDB, CM/GC, and ICE contracting approaches.
• Coordinate with multiple delivery firms and MDT sections to ensure timely, on-budget project delivery.
• Develop, direct and monitor complex project plans, budgets and schedules.
• Provide leadership and guidance to project teams and supervise staff as needed.
