Job summary

Pacific Gas and Electric Company is seeking a Journey level Transmission Planning Engineer in San Luis Obispo. The role focuses on reliability analysis and development of transmission solutions to meet California’s RPS goals, with duties spanning interconnection studies, power flow analysis, and coordination with CAISO/CPUC.

Hybrid work arrangement, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and mentoring of junior engineers are expected as experience grows.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited curriculum in the US or equivalent
3 years of experience in electrical engineering, planning and/or operations

Responsibilities

Plan, develop, and recommend transmission plans to CAISO, CAISO, NERC, WECC and FERC compliance
Participate in CAISO GIDAP studies and perform power flow and transient stability simulations
Support/Lead generation interconnection study deliverables and coordinate schedules with CAISO and Interconnection Customers
Develop basecase assumptions and dynamic models for transmission projects
Perform planning studies for retail load interconnection and develop comprehensive plans
Collaborate with CAISO and CPUC on transmission planning issues
Review and develop simulation models of lines and substations for planning databases
Develop EPCL, Python scripts for simulation tools
Review single line diagrams for future plans
Mentor junior engineers
