Job summary

GFT is seeking a Track Design Engineer to join our Transportation Team in Kansas City, MO. This hybrid role requires regular in-office attendance and offers opportunities to work on multimodal transportation projects enhancing infrastructure and community connectivity.

The successful candidate will design and document rail and road projects, prepare cost estimates, and coordinate with multiple teams and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with AREMA standards and project requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from ABET-accredited university or college.
FE exam completed.
Minimum of 2 years' professional civil engineering rail design experience.
Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and MicroStation/OpenRail Designer.
Able to read plans and shop drawings and evaluate contractor compliance with construction plans.

Responsibilities

Prepare construction documents using MicroStation/OpenRail.
Develop horizontal and vertical designs for track alignments and yard expansions.
Assist with cost estimation tasks.
Collaborate with civil, structural, and signal teams to integrate rail projects.
Support permitting and AREMA-compliant standards.
