GFT, a transportation-focused engineering firm, seeks a Track Design Engineer in Kansas City, MO. Hybrid work model with a mix of office and field tasks, collaborating across civil, structural, and signal teams to deliver robust rail projects.

The candidate should have a civil engineering degree (ABET-accredited), FE eligibility, and 2+ years rail design experience, with proficiency in MicroStation/OpenRail and Microsoft Office. Strong reading of plans and teams skills are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam required.
Minimum of 2 years' professional civil engineering rail design experience.
Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and MicroStation or OpenRail Designer.
Reading plans and shop drawings; evaluate contractor compliance with construction plans and specs.
Team-oriented engineer with strong communication and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

Prepare construction documents using MicroStation/OpenRail.
Develop horizontal and vertical designs using MicroStation/OpenRail for rail projects.
Assist others in preparing probable cost of construction or other cost estimating tasks.
Coordinate with civil, structural, and signal teams to integrate rail projects.
Support permitting and compliance with AREMA standards and railroad engineering guidelines.
Receive instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers.
