Job summary

Shen Milsom Wilke, LLC is seeking an experienced Theatrical Consultant to join our Denver-area team. The role focuses on planning, design, and implementation of performance spaces, with emphasis on theatre architecture, lighting, rigging, acoustics, and AV systems.

Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients is essential to deliver functional, safe, and artistically expressive venues. The ideal candidate has 3–10 years in theatre consulting, strong technical background, and willingness

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Design/Engineering/Architecture.
• Five years’ theatre consulting or technical theatre experience.
• Strong knowledge of stage mechanics, lighting and rigging.
• Familiar with building codes and safety regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong interpersonal skills and client relationship experience.
• Client-focused with commitment to quality and problem-solving.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Experience with technical drawing using AutoCAD.
• Experience with Revit or Vectorworks; willingness to learn our drawings process.

Responsibilities

• Involved in all phases of a project from concept through construction and commissioning.
• Manage assigned projects; coordinate budget, scheduling, design, and client communications.
• Develop technical specifications for rigging, drapery, lighting, and stage engineering.
• Evaluate site conditions and provide feasibility assessments.
• Review and comment on architectural and engineering drawings.
• Coordinate with clients to understand artistic and operational needs.
• Ensure safety and building code compliance.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of theatre systems.
• Guidance on seating, exiting, and sightlines.
• Travel for site visits and meetings.
