Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Telecom Engineer to design, map, build, and document private circuits across regional areas. Initial focus will be on Carolinas work, with collaboration to design and implement leased circuits.

The role requires hands-on experience with carrier optical equipment (Ciena 39xx, IMUX) and Cisco gear, plus strong written and verbal communication skills. Hybrid work: minimum 3 days in office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent telecom experience.
• 5+ years of direct telecom engineering experience with carrier optical engineering/provisioning.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, map, build, and label private circuits across regional areas.
• Develop support processes to enable first/second-level teams and provide third-level support as needed.
• Document and label equipment with circuit IDs; write instructions for Field Services and NOC testing.
