Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Technical Program Manager to streamline safety governance across ChatGPT, API, and frontier models. You will coordinate safety research, mitigations, and risk tracking with research, product, engineering, legal, and policy teams.

The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid model (3 days in office) and relocation assistance for new hires, supporting safe deployment of new models.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a hard science; PhD advantageous.
• Proven track record delivering complex technical projects under deadlines.
• Strong collaboration with engineering and research teams.
• Experience designing scalable processes for complex problems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; AGI safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Track safety research progress and risk tables.
• Oversee quality of human data campaigns.
• Create and execute a compute roadmap for the team.
• Ensure models are qualified for safe deployment.
• Publish safety learnings, standards, datasets and benchmarks.
