Texas Comptroller's Office is seeking a Taxpayer Enforcement Officer to enforce, comply, and interpret the Texas Tax Code and related statutes for taxes and fees. The role requires handling confidential taxpayer records and payments in a trusted environment.

The position may offer a flexible/hybrid schedule of 3 in-office days and 2 remote days once conditions are met, with standard 8-to-5 hours, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED completed.
• 2 years full time work experience in accounting, bookkeeping, call center, clerical/administrative, collections, or record keeping.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; transcripts may be requested during interview.

Responsibilities

• Performs professional tax enforcement work and enforces compliance with the Texas Tax Code.
• Works with the general public, taxpayers, and state/local authorities.
• Provides education on tax laws, rules, and forms.
• Determines next actions per agency policies; establishes liability on delinquent taxes.
• Collects cash and non-cash payments and may conduct inspections or seizures.
• Participates in trainings, seminars, and may represent the Comptroller's office at events.
