Job summary

The University of Vermont is seeking a Systems Engineer Manager to guide strategic planning and oversee building automation, energy management, and instrumentation across campus facilities.

This leadership role directs a team of engineers, controls technicians and commissioning staff, focusing on growth, reliability, efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable campus initiatives with a strong emphasis on safety and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of building controls systems management experience.
• Design, construction, or commissioning of HVAC/mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of energy management/building automation systems.
• Knowledge of codes, regulations and practices.
• Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance, strategic planning and management of building automation and energy management systems across campus.
• Lead a team of engineers, controls and instrumentation technicians, and commissioning staff.
• Plan for growth, reliability, efficiency and sustainability goals in line with university aims.
• Promote a safe work environment and uphold inclusion and social justice principles.
