Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, secure, and cost-efficient systems, and contribute to IaC scripts for automated deployments.

Ideal candidates have a strong virtualization background, cloud security knowledge, and hands-on experience with tools like Ansible and Terraform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years experience applying infra technologies in physical/virtual environments.
• Certifications like Red Hat Systems Engineer, Windows Admin, or VMware Data Center Virtualization preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of physical/virtual compute, storage, and networking from major vendors.
• Proficient with virtualization (VMs, servers, storage, compute management) and common hypervisors.
• Experience with IaC tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Bitbucket, and Git.
• Ability to manage compute, storage, and network infrastructures and OSs like Windows, RHEL, and Ubuntu.
• Familiarity with IAM, encryption, and monitoring in cloud environments.
• Solid problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Able to provide on-call support 24/7.
• Basic scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Implements and maintains physical and virtual infrastructure and services.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure scalability, availability, and security of systems.
• Deploys physical and virtual solutions based on business requirements using IaC tools.
• Implements architecture standards for performance, security, and cost efficiency.
• Applies security measures and best practices to protect systems and data.
• Participates in cross-functional teams on systems management strategies.
• Develops infrastructure-as-code scripts and templates for automated deployments.
• Maintains operational policies and documentation for infrastructure.
• Identifies and resolves routine issues with Operations, Apps, and vendors.
• Participates in capacity planning, performance analysis, and system tuning.
• Proposes innovative infrastructure solutions by staying current with tech trends.
• Participates in on-call rotation.
• Supports development teams with infra engineering for deployment and integration.
• Performs other duties to fulfill primary responsibilities.
