Job summary

Delta Dental of Michigan seeks a Systems Engineer in Okemos, MI. You’ll implement and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure, ensuring scalable, secure, and cost-efficient operations in a hybrid environment.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, build IaC templates, and support deployment, monitoring, and on-call rotation while advancing infrastructure capabilities across on‑prem and cloud‑like environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field with 3 years of infrastructure experience.
• Hands-on in designing, implementing, and managing physical and virtual infrastructure.
• Certifications such as RHSE, Windows Admin, or VMware DCV are preferred.
• Experience with IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform, Git) and scripting (Python/PowerShell/Bash).

Responsibilities

• Deploys physical and virtual solutions based on business requirements and leverages technologies.
• Implements architecture strategies for performance, security, and cost efficiency.
• Enforces security measures and best practices to protect systems and data.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams on systems management strategies.
• Builds and updates IaC scripts and templates to support automated deployments.
• Maintains operational policies, procedures, and documentation for infrastructure.
• Resolves routine issues with Operations, Applications, and vendors as needed.
• Participates in capacity planning, performance analysis, and tuning.
• Proposes innovative infrastructure solutions and participates in on-call rotation.
• Supports development teams with infrastructure engineering for deployment and integration.
