Job summary

Bates College is seeking a Systems Analyst to support the health, security, and reliability of the College's server applications. You will maintain a hybrid portfolio spanning self-hosted and SaaS-delivered systems and work with vendors and campus staff to implement, configure, and support new and existing technologies.

You will develop SQL queries, reports, and data integrations, while ensuring data integrity, security, and performance across Windows and Unix/Linux environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL or equivalent.
• Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux environments and remote connectivity.
• Experience with SSRS, Power BI or other enterprise reporting tools is preferred.
• Experience with system implementation and upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Monitors system health, applies upgrades and patches to keep applications current.
• Diagnoses and resolves performance issues to minimize disruption.
• Evaluates impact of new features on computing resources before deployment.
• Safeguards security, stability, and performance of applications.
• Documents processes and configurations to preserve institutional knowledge.
• Provides technical support for self-hosted and SaaS applications including SQL Server, WordPress, Moodle, and more.
• Designs, develops, and tests application code to integrate and customize the portfolio.
• Develops and optimizes SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.
