Job summary

Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health’s Center for Biostatistics in AIDS Research (CBAR) seeks a System Administrator to manage Linux/Windows environments, VMware, and security.

You will join the Infrastructure Team within the Department of Information Technology to support research computing and clinical trial networks. The role emphasizes maintaining secure, scalable systems, disaster recovery planning, and collaboration with researchers and IT staff in a fast-paced, hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of IT experience, including 3+ years in systems administration.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting virtual server environments and security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Knowledge of data security standards such as NIST 800-53 and 21 CFR 11.
• Experience with Red Hat Linux, Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory, VMware, Linux shell scripting.
• Experience with SAS, R, Python on a research computing cluster is a plus.
• Experience with Ansible and Jira is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with IT Infrastructure Team to maintain and administer Linux, Windows, and VMware environments.
• Plan and conduct infrastructure engineering across systems and implement IT solutions to complex problems.
• Provide technical and project assistance across multiple projects.
• Support planning and implementing system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Contribute to disaster recovery, compliance, business continuity, and security initiatives for CBAR environment.
• Monitor CBAR computing environment, manage accounts, perform routine startup/shutdown, patching, and upgrades.
