Job summary

Leidos is seeking a System Architect / Technical Lead to support NIH/IT programs under BAS, providing architectural ownership and technical direction for enterprise applications. The role involves leading a contractor team, modernizing systems, and applying DevSecOps and cloud-native practices.

The position requires 10+ years in technical leadership, strong cloud experience, and the ability to work onsite or hybrid near Bethesda, MD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in technical leadership of a software development or engineering team.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in system integration and development.
• Experience with cloud computing and cloud-based technologies.
• Solid understanding of software engineering life cycle and EPLC.
• Ability to lead a team in adopting new technologies including AI-assisted and cloud-native delivery practices.

Responsibilities

• Architect and own the system architecture for BAS programs with technical direction for the contractor team.
• Collaborate with system owners and stakeholders to design, implement, test, and validate systems.
• Provide technical direction to developers, QA, and analysts, and mentor junior team members.
• Design and develop new code and support maintenance and enhancements of existing code.
• Develop and maintain the Architecture Plan and update it with major releases.
• Review requirements, designs, and testing deliverables for each release cycle.
• Engage ARB processes for modernization, cloud migration, and new development.
• Estimate level-of-effort and support release planning and task assignments.
• Model business processes and integrate NIH enterprise systems with BAS DSS stack.
• Lead modernization, microservices, and cloud-native migrations.
