Lynker Corporation seeks a Support Scientist for Operational Wave Modeling Development to accelerate RWPS readiness for the NWS. The role blends research, development, and operations, emphasizing AI/ML integration, coastal processes, and system-wide testing in a hybrid DC Metro setting (2 days in College Park, MD, 3 days remote).

You will work with interagency partners to evaluate models, run HPC simulations with MPI/OpenMP/Slurm, and contribute to real-time wave forecasts.

Qualificações

• MS in meteorology, oceanography, coastal engineering or related field, with 7+ years in forecasting/ocean science.
• Knowledge of spectral wave models (e.g., WAVEWATCH III) for real-time applications.
• Experience running numerical models on HPC platforms using MPI, OpenMP, Slurm, LSF, etc.
• Familiar with modern software development practices and version control.
• Proficiency in FORTRAN90, Python, and C++.
• Experience in UNIX environments with advanced shell scripting; able to run complex jobs.
• Proficiency using GitHub to manage repositories and versions.
• Ability to maintain, visualize, and disseminate marine modeling outputs and web products.

Responsabilidades

• Support development, optimization, maintenance, and integration of RWPS wave modeling.
• Advance coastal processes and hazard prediction formulations.
• Collaborate on AI/ML techniques to improve model efficiency or forecast accuracy.
• Coordinate across interagency and private sectors for R2O transitions.
• Design and run numerical model experiments with validation and data fusion.
• Maintain and visualize marine modeling outputs and related web services.
