Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking a Health Educator to lead countywide health education, promotion, and risk reduction initiatives. The role builds partnerships with community coalitions and public health staff to advance evidence-based strategies and improve health outcomes.

The ideal candidate will be self-directed, communicate effectively, and manage program data, reporting, and training. Occasional travel across Salt Lake County is required, with a hybrid work schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus two years of related experience or combination of related education and experience.
• Must pass a fingerprint background check and enrollment in RAP Back per County policy.
• Valid Utah driver’s license required at hire; license must be obtained within six months to operate county vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates activities of Health Promotion staff to meet state and federal grant contracts.
• Develops, plans, and implements countywide health education, behavior risk reduction, and outreach programs.
• Assesses health education needs and priorities of diverse populations using appropriate assessment tools.
• Monitors program compliance and budgets with grants and contracts expectations.
• Coordinates data collection to measure effectiveness against established criteria, integrity, and compliance.
• Develops and coordinates community health programs, guiding leaders to address population-based issues.
• Provides training to program staff on health promotion topics.
• Supports management in organizing and sustaining community health coalitions.
• Provides connections between Salt Lake County Health Department and community groups and coalitions.
• Recruits membership to coalitions among government agencies, healthcare organizations, businesses, community groups, and the public.
• Prepares reports, documents, statistics, and presentations; assists with press releases and public health information.
