Job summary

Bechtel seeks a Subcontracts Manager in Reston, VA to lead a team, develop subcontracting strategy, and manage bid-to-award processes. The role requires extensive experience in contracts, pricing, and risk management to align with project execution plans.

The position is part-time telework with at least three days in-person per week at the office or project site, reporting to the Nuclear, Security & Environmental department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree with 13–15 years of relevant experience or 17–19 years total.
• Pricing, contract law, contract drafting, change orders negotiation and effective correspondence.
• Knowledge of subcontract formation procedures for multi‑discipline projects.
• Experience managing workload distribution and personnel matters.
• Understanding of contract flow-down and risk assessment.
• Strong collaboration with Legal and Risk Management.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop Contracts scope, plans, schedules, estimates, and budgets with the project team.
• Supervise subcontract formation and bid-to-award processes per policies.
• Prepare commercial terms for project documents ensuring alignment with the prime contract.
• Coordinate contract execution plan with Engineering and Construction plans.
• Review approvals and ensure compliance with corporate policies.
• Develop Subcontract Formation Program consistent with procedures.
• Analyze terms to identify risks and mitigation options.
• Collaborate with Legal and Risk Management to negotiate bidder exceptions.
