Job summary

The New School is seeking a Student Assistant Specialist to support the HR team with inquiries, onboarding tasks, and I-9 verifications. The role emphasizes prompt, professional service and close collaboration with campus partners and hiring managers.

This hybrid, hourly position reports to the Senior HR Strategy Partner and offers exposure to student employment processes, compliance activities, and customer-focused HR operations in a dynamic higher-education setting.

Qualifications

• One to 2 years of related professional-level work experience; OR equivalent work experience
• Effective written communication and customer service skills
• General working knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and practices
• Demonstrated ability to effectively balance multiple tasks and inquiries
• Federal Work Study Award

Responsibilities

• Assist with student hire processing and onboarding tasks
• Respond to inquiries via the HR inbox and connect employees with resources
• Assist with I-9 verification completion and maintenance of appointment logs
