Job summary

Seattle Colleges is seeking a full-time Student Activities Specialist in Student Leadership and Engagement to plan and oversee large campus events, supervise six student staff, and promote an inclusive campus culture.

The role is hybrid (remote and on-site), 40 hours per week, with a salary range of $48,216 to $62,748 annually. First review of materials will occur Sept. 14, 2026, and the position is open until filled.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field or program and one year of experience in educational, social services, or student affairs setting OR two years of equivalent event planning experience
  • Experience working with diverse populations within an equity and inclusion framework
  • Experience advising, training, and supervising students
  • Experience planning and implementing multicultural events and activities
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within a diverse community
  • Superior communication, interpersonal, multitasking and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and project management skills
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and relevant technology

Responsibilities

  • You'll work with your team to build inclusive, dynamic, and engaging events that serve students, ensuring access and assisting students in building community and a sense of belonging
  • You'll lead efforts to grow events to have more students attend, including reaching students from marginalized and excluded backgrounds, particularly regarding race and ethnicity
  • Throughout your work you'll demonstrate cultural humility and intercultural engagement, including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations, and create an educational environment that affirms commitment to equity and diversity
  • You'll work with your team to improve the department's student retention and success
  • You'll assist with the development and monitoring of College Activities Board budgets; create and submit annual budget proposals and program reports to S&A budget committee; track expenditures, monitor budget balances, ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures, and advise Director on any necessary changes.
  • You'll understand and train staff in event management: scheduling, facilities, set-up, tear-down, risk assessment, volunteer coordination, ordering supplies/equipment, budgeting, paying vendors, and marketing & promotions.
  • You'll lead assessment and evidence/data analysis to continue to build events utilizing student, staff, and faculty feedback
  • You'll support efforts to develop collaborative relationships with faculty and staff to create a cohesive, campus-wide activities program
