Job summary

BETA Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Structures Design Engineer for the Advanced Systems team to develop airframe components from concept through flight test. This role will translate requirements into practical, performant designs and support manufacturing, build, and test activities.

Based onsite in South Burlington, VT, with potential hybrid work and occasional visits to Raleigh, NC. You will collaborate across disciplines, perform sizing, and contribute to a design for manufacturability

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of aircraft structural design or related aerospace product-development experience.
• Proficiency developing aerospace hardware in CATIA, 3DEXPERIENCE, or a comparable CAD environment.
• Working knowledge of load paths, structural sizing, composite or metallic design, joints, fasteners, GD&T, and configuration control.
• Experience producing detailed CAD, drawings, or controlled product definition and supporting hardware manufacture.
• Ability to make sound design decisions, document assumptions, and communicate risks and interfaces clearly.
• Must be a US Person to be considered for the role.

Responsibilities

• Develop primary and secondary metallic, composite, and hybrid airframe components.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD, drawings, and controlled definitions for structure, joints, interfaces, and installations.
• Translate requirements, loads, geometry, systems interfaces, and manufacturing constraints into structural design requirements.
• Support structural layout, configuration, and interface trades across airframe components.
• Perform preliminary sizing and hand calculations; collaborate with Stress to mature designs.
• Design for manufacturing, assembly, inspection, maintainability, repair, weight, cost, and schedule.
• Support design reviews, product release, manufacturing, build, and test issue resolution.
• Coordinate with Stress, Loads, Aerodynamics, Dynamics, Materials and Processes, Systems, Manufacturing, and suppliers.
